Message from Chair
Welcome to the Department of Molecular Medicine and Biopharmaceutical Sciences.
This department began in the year of 2009 as WCU (World Class University) and was transformed to the official department of graduate course according to the Bylaws of Seoul National University. When we started this endeavor of constructing a new department by the concerted efforts of participating professors in 2009, we focused on the research to reach the globally renowned ones. Now, after successful five years of stabilization, the department turned its interest to the raising of the next-generation researchers.
Next-generation researchers consist of junior research professors (BK professors), post-doctoral fellows and PhD/MS students. With these young generation, thirteen professors are working independently or together to solve the problem of unmet clinical needs or unsolved scientific problems. These needs and problems are formulated by the world-renowned faculty of this department. We are supported by BK21plus project of Ministry of Education to do this job since 2013. With the legacy of Foreign Professors during past WCU department, who are still working as major collaborators as Invited Professors in this department, we aim to perform global translation studies.
It is again our great pleasure to have you work together with us as you are our next-generation scientists and physician/scientists to solve the unmet clinical needs of cancer, brain and heart diseases, diabetes and other intractable diseases using our outstanding know-hows of omics, imaging, convergent biotechnologies, stem cell technologies and many other technologies.
I welcome you on behalf of the faculty, already-devoting students and new investigators in every laboratory of thirteen Professors. We thank Professor Kyu Won Kim who just finished his term in this department this year. Best wishes.
