Multi-stage carcinogenesis, Chemoprevention
Prof. Young-Joon Surh
Current Research Interests
Current research in our group focuses on cancer chemoprevention targeting intracellular signaling network that is often deregulated in diseases such as cancer. We are particularly interested in signal transduction mediated by redox-sensitive transcription factors, including NF-kappa B, AP-1, p53, STAT3, and Nrf2. We utilize the State-of-the-Art biochemical and molecular biological techniques as well as genetically altered mice (both transgenic and knock out) and cells derived from such animals to better understand how some chemopreventive agents can modulate signal transduction modules that regulate cell functions.
