Current Research Interests
Main interest in my research group is on the mechanism of insulin resistance associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. For past few years, we've focused on the role of mitochondria in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. We are also interested in the role of peroxisome proliferators activated receptor (PPAR)in diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. In the year of 2000, we established "Genome Research Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Disease" supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
We are now able to expand the research interests into molecular mechanism of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes using genomics, proteomics and metabolomics tools.
